A moderated conversation with pioneers in design.
The Bay Area is home to the design consultancies that collectively redefined professional practice for the digital age. Among them was Lunar Design, founded some 40 years ago by Jeff Smith, Gerard Furbershaw, and Robert Brunner. Smith and Furbershaw have stepped back and handed the reins of leadership to the next generation, which is now known as McKinsey Design. The evening, presented by the CCA Design Division and hosted by Professor Barry Katz, will be devoted to a discussion with Jeff and Gerard as they reflect back on the industry, survey its present state, and speculate about its future directions— including a legacy that has primed them to return to their roots with a new initiative, SF Design.
