Experience Parold Entertainment Inc.'s Jazz Renaissance series, produced by Emmy-nominated actress/singer Parris Lane. This series highlights special guest performers, including the New Orleans Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Efrem Towns, and local Oakland Grammy Award winning pianist Glenn Pearson. Parris and Parold Entertainment will bring some of the best and most talented jazz musicians to Oakland's historic jazz club, Geoffrey's Inner Circle, Saturday, November 16, 2024, 7-9 pm.
Meet Parris Lane, a multi-award-winning artist whose talent has been recognized globally. From winning a Governor's Proclamation for her exceptional work in creating, producing, and directing shows, to gracing the stages of renowned venues like Carnegie Hall, Parris Lane's performances have left an indelible mark in international cities such as London, Paris, Geneva, Rome, and Bangkok. Her vocal virtuosity, spanning four octaves, effortlessly adapts to various genres, including Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Pop, Classical, and Show tunes.
The incomparable Efrem Towns, known worldwide for his immaculate, perfect high pitches on trumpet, will grace the event with a pure performance and taste of authentic New Orleans royalty. You'll hear the influence of greats such as Louis Armstrong.
Glenn Pearson, College of Alameda jazz professor, is a local Oakland member of the historic Count Basie Orchestra. As a pianist, his devotion to authentic jazz sound brings the greatness of jazz music to contemporary audiences and educates the next generation on jazz history. He won a Grammy Award for his work on The Count Basie Orchestra's Basie Swings The Blues, in the category "Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album" at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
