Jazz in the Neighborhood presents the John Santos Sextet

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalist Hall (see times)
Jazz in the Neighborhood presents the John Santos Sextet with Dr. John Calloway, flute, piano, percussion; Melecio Magdaluyo, saxes, flute, clarinet; Marco Diaz, piano, trumpet; Saul Sierra, bass; and David Flores, drums. John Santos is a seven-time Grammy nominee and has worked with musical legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, and Tito Puente. His Machete Ensemble occupied the pinnacle of Latin jazz in the Bay Area for more than twenty years, and now the John Santos Sextet is one of the premier Afro-Latin Jazz musical groups in the United States. They have released several highly acclaimed recordings on Santos’ Machete Records label and perform locally and nationally. This summer will find them in Chicago and at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. Their repertoire consists of original compositions and exciting original arrangements of classic rhythms, styles and songs from Latin America and the U.S. Equally at home with a dance or concert repertoire, the John Santos Sextet presents a wide range of styles and rhythms for audiences of all ages. And there will plenty of room for dancing!
