JASON BROCK
Jason Brock is a TV, film and stage star. He was seen in homes all over the world as a finalist on X-Factor singing songs like Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind.” Jason also starred in the film, “Love is not Enough,” which played at global film festivals, including the SF Int’l. LGBT Film Festival in SF. Jason is well known as a cabaret star and performs original shows regularly. He has been called a “Bay Area Singing Legend” and was voted “Best Male Cabaret Singer” for the last four years in the Bay Area Reporter. He is followed by tens of thousands of people on social media (over 55,000 followers on twitter alone) and has millions of views on YouTube.
Jason Brock has shared the stage with celebrities including: Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Mario Lopez, Khloe Kardashian, Simon Cowell, Zayn Malik (One Direction), Fifth Harmony, Bruce Vilanch, Florence Henderson, Alex Newell (Glee), Taylor Mac, Diane Schuur, Paula West, Marga Gomez, L.A. Reid, Bea Miller, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Katya Smirnoff-Skyy, Leanne Borghesi, Sally Struthers, and others.
Jason Brock is also a recording artist. He was recently featured on Miguel Migs’ new release, “Dim Division,” recorded on major label Soul Heaven/Salted Music. Artists on the album include Meshell Ndegeocello, UK soul singer Omar, Andy Allo (who toured with Prince on guitar/vocals) and others. Jason records his own music, as well. He is currently working on an album of original music, which is currently in the recording phase. His currently available original recordings (of many kinds – acoustic, dance and house songs [respectively]), “Cornbread,” “You’ve got the Love” and Miguel Migs’ album track “Sail On,” can be purchased or streamed on major music services today.
Jason Brock has performed at venues across the country, and even outside of the country, but he is most often seen in SF. He has been seen at many venues throughout SF, including the Herbst Theatre, Castro Theatre, Marines’ Memorial Theatre, Feinstein’s at Hotel Nikko, Society Cabaret, Martuni’s Piano Bar and more.
Jason also believes it’s important to try to make the world a better place, so he gives back to the community – primarily in the SF Bay Area. He donates his resources to these organizations: Richmond/Ermet Aid Foundation (REAF), the SF Unified Lions Club, Alice B. Toklas Democrats (LGBTQ Political Club) and The SF FrontRunners (LGBTQ Running Club). He has been an intern at the SF Mayor’s Office and the SF District Attorney’s Office, as well. Jason Brock also dones a fair amount of theatre in SF. Some of his roles include: Hedwig in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” - Boxcar Theatre, a demented flower girl in Taylor Mac’s “The Lily’s Revenge” at Magic Theatre, and “Peachy Gale” in Peaches Christ’s “The Wizard of Odd” at Castro Theatre.
Jason Brock collaborates with many diverse and excellent musicians and singers. You’ll usually see him performing with his pianist, Dee Spencer. Dr. Dee” Spencer is a Professor and Chair of Music in the School of Music at SF State University where she founded the jazz studies undergraduate degree program in 1990. She earned and Ed.D from the USF; M.M. from Washington University in St. Louis; and a B.S. from Florida A&M University. Dee served on the piano faculty at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Dee served on the governing boards of the Int’l. Assc. for Jazz Education (IAJE) and the SF Chapter of the Nat’l. Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). She currently serves on the board of the Community Music Center. In May 2015, Dee worked with Wynton Marsalis as a judge for the annual Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington Competition.
Jason was born in East Texas, and moved all over the country with his family – no they weren’t  a military family – he’s still trying to figure out why they moved so much during his childhood. Jason has lived in many places, but finally settled in SF. He enjoys it’s diversity, beautiful, interesting political scene, and SF was featured in several of the books (Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin, Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, The Color Purple [writer Alice Walker lives near the city]), that inspired Jason to live as his true self. He now resides at home with his partner and dog (not the same person) with a beautiful view of the Bay.

Shawn Ryan from NBC’s America’s Got Talent returns to the San Francisco Bay with a brand new album and his twisted take on all the Holiday Classics. Shawn career got it’s first launch when he was a Semi Finalist on NBC's America's Got Talent and has been seen in numerous television appearances including Famous in Love, Bones, The Mentalist, Life, One Night Stand Up, and Women's Murder Club where he landed the role of Karen Adams, a transgendered Drag King with narcolepsy, all thanks to Jane Lynch turning down the role. (You can't make this stuff up) "His hilarious romp through tinsel town with song and story will have busting at the seams and standing in the aisles begging for more!" -The Times Picayune Shawn is also the co-founder of The Young Actors’ Theatre Camp along with his partner of 17 years, John Ainsworth.

DEE SPENCER
Dee Spencer is a Professor of Jazz and Musical Theatre in the School of Theatre & Dance at San Francisco State University (SFSU).
She received her B.S. from Florida A&M M.M. at Washington University in St. Louis; and EdD., University of San Francisco. Dee founded the Jazz Studies degree program in the School of Music at SFSU and served as director for five years.
Dee Spencer’s musical director/sound designer credits include “Androcles and the Lion”, “Raisin” award-winning Theatreworks production with legendary directors Danny Duncan and Tony Haney, “Purlie Victorious”, “The Me Nobody Knows”, “No Place To Be Somebody”, “Ain’t Misbehavin’”, “Sassy Divas”, “One Mo Time”, “Twelfth Night”, “Spring Awakening”, “Lysistrata”, “Chicago” and “Hair”.
She has performed/recorded/toured/judged with Wynton Marsalis for Jazz at Lincoln Center; GRAMMY Award winning vocalist “Ledisi”, TOWER OF POWER’s Lenny Williams and legends John Handy, Jimmy Scott, Louis Bellson, Clark Terry, Regina Carter, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Bernard Purdie and X-Factor star Jason Brock and the legendary GLIDE ensemble. Her debut recording “Vintage School” was released in 2000. She is an Annual Screener for the GRAMMYs Music Awards.
Her former students include recording artists/producers, Braxton Brothers, BEYONCE’S music director, saxophonist Tia Fuller, and LAUREN HILL’S music director, saxophonist Howard Wiley.
As an active contributor to the San Francisco community, she founded the San Francisco Jazz Organization (SFJAZZ) education program and performed for a US Senator Kamala Harris’ fundraiser at the African American Cultural Center formerly headed by San Francisco Mayor London Breed. She also served as program director for the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts.
She has served on the following boards: International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE), National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), San Francisco Jazz Organization (SFJAZZ), Stanford Jazz Workshop, Community Music Center and the Women’s Audio Mission. Dee is currently serving The Amateur Musicians Network board.
