James Harman started his career in music playing in numerous rhythm and blues bands in Panama City, Florida. One of his bands, The Icehouse Blues Band, performed alongside such acts as Big Joe Turner, John Lee Hooker, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Albert King, B. B. King, and T-Bone Walker, among others. Since the 1970's James has established himself as a talented vocalist, songwriter, and blues harmonica player, and has received several W. C. Handy Blues Award nominations as well as been inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
