Saxophonist/composer James Brandon Lewis and jazz/progressive-rock band Android Trio share the night to present their latest albums, No Filter and Road Songs, respectively. Kevin Robinson’s KREation Ensemble (TBA)   ABOUT THE ARTISTS: James Brandon Lewis is a saxophonist, composer, and critically acclaimed artist that has received accolades from the New York Times, Q Magazine, and Ebony Magazine. He has been endorsed by jazz legend Sonny Rollins and has shared stages with Ken Filiano, Darius Jones, Jason Hwang, William Parker, Hamiet Bluiett, Hamid Drake, Ravi Coltrane, Jimmy Heath, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Joe Lovano, Dave Douglas, Marc Ribot, Anthony Coleman, and many others. Android Trio formed during extensive touring as members of the renowned Magic Band—formerly Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band—and the Grandmothers of Invention—formerly Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention. After playing together on a lark at a café in Sydney, Australia in 2014, drummer Andy Niven, guitarist/bassist Eric Klerks, and guitarist Max Kutner decided to continue exploring the possibilities of combining their varied stylistic directions.
Kevin Robinson is a performer, composer, educator, and multi-woodwind instrumentalist who explores various interdisciplinary approaches to composition and improvisation. He is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and is currently based in Oakland, California. He now attends Mills College in the MA Composition Program where he is studying with Roscoe Mitchell. Established in 2003, the Kevin Robinson Ensemble, KREation, has since recorded several studio albums and performed at various festivals and venues throughout the United States. Some highlights include performances at the Studio Museum in Harlem, The Made in LA 2012 Biennial, The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Artscape Festival in Baltimore, and the Outsound New Music Summit in San Francisco.

EVENT TIME
When should I arrive?Doors open 30 minutes before the scheduled performance time. For example, if the show is scheduled to start at 7:30pm, the doors will open at 7:00pm. If the show is scheduled to start at 8:00pm, the doors will open at 7:30pm, and so on.
TICKETING & ADMISSION
When does the box office open to buy tickets at the door?Guests may buy tickets when doors open 30 minutes before the scheduled performance time. Limited tickets will be available at the door (quantity will vary depending on total online sales).
Does purchasing an advance ticket guarantee seating?Purchasing an advance ticket guarantees admission, but does not guarantee seats. Seating is first come, first serve.
Does the Poppy accept debit or credit cards?At this time, we can only accept cash and check. Credit card processing will be coming soon.
What's the refund policy?Refunds are only available in the event of a cancelled performance.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?No, this event is all ages. However, wine and beer will be served at the concessions counter.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?You may bring your printed ticket or show your ticket on your phone. There will be no tickets available for pick up at Will Call.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?Yes, you’re welcome to purchase tickets for someone else.
VENUE & LOCATION
Is the space ADA accessible?Yes, there is a ramp at our 23rd St entrance.
What kind of seating do you have available?For most of our events we have folding chairs and a few couches available.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?Street parking is available but can be limited around the Red Poppy. We encourage you to take public transportation whenever possible. Several MUNI lines run close to the Red Poppy, and the 24th St. Mission BART station is just under half a mile away.
What can I bring into the event?Guests are welcome to bring food. Beverages are available by suggested donation. We recommend bringing collapsible strollers, if possible.
How can I donate to the Poppy?You may bring cash, check, or donate online at http://redpoppyarthouse.org/participate/give/.
