Jake Smolowe, Jazz Piano, at the Atelier

Join us for an evening of soulful solo jazz piano! Jake Smolowe is a San Francisco-based jazz pianist, composer and piano teacher. He fell in love with jazz at a young age listening to the volcanic hard bop of Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, and strives to capture that same kinetic energy in his own playing and writing. He draws influence from many differing sources, from Geoffrey Keezer to Bilal, Brad Mehldau to Robert Glasper, Peter Apfelbaum to Chopin and beyond. Jake will be presenting a night of original solo piano music, including a mix of composed material and on-the-spot improvisation. Wine and hors d'oeuvres, limited seating.
