Jacob Niles in concert: innovative music for double bass, vocals and guitar

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at The Emerald Tablet (see times)
The Emerald Tablet is very pleased to host an evening of original music by Jacob Niles.

A former professional Symphony Orchestra musician, Jacob Niles blends songwriting with classical and jazz influences, inspiration from folk and rock idioms of the last century’s classic Americana generation, and a hint of world music styles. His music, though intelligent, is far from esoteric.

After a set of solo double bass and vocals, Jacob will be joined by guitarist Zac Selissen to close out the evening.

Jacob Niles began playing contrabass at the age of 12. After completing his studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music he began a career playing with professional symphony orchestras. He has toured the US and Europe and collaborated with artists such as Third Eye Blind and Jherek Bischoff, among others. He recently embarked on a solo career, blending his virtuosic contrabass playing with a soulful voice reminiscent of American music of days past. His much anticipated debut album of original material is set for release in early 2014.

Zac Selissen is a guitarist and arranger whose performance of the guitar has earned him mastery of a wide range of music — from rock to jazz, bossa, and bluegrass, from classical to tango and flamenco. Zac performs with the argentine Tango band Tangonero; spends his time arranging for his classical guitar duo, Duo Symphonious, the University of St. Thomas Guitar Ensemble, and the Out of the Chamber Arts Collective. He earned his Masters of Music degree in Guitar Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the instruction of Marc --Teicholz.
