at Black Cat (see times)

JACK SHEEHAN: Saxophonist, composer, recording artist, educator & entrepreneur, Jack Sheehan, is beginning to make his mark on the music industry. The 23-year old instrumentalist has become a growing force on the alto saxophone, having already performed alongside artists such as Terence Blanchard and John Clayton, to name a few. His passion for the music, as well as his personality on his instrument, come together to create the explosive, creative, fiery, yet most delicate style of playing he is known for. Book now to see this young virtuoso in person!
At only the age of 6, Jack began taking classical piano lessons where he molded his foundation of music. By age 11, Jack was showing strong interest in wanting to play the saxophone. Throughout his middle and high school years, Jack grew to love jazz where he began to excel rapidly. By 13, Jack was gigging 3-4 times per week. A pinnacle moment in Jack's youth was when he was asked to perform with Grammy-winning flautist, Nestor Torres. He later graduated from Berklee College of Music, and has performed with Terence Blanchard, The Family Stone, Usher and more.

RODNEY RUCKUS: “I am the music. I am my first instrument and the music is in me” says one of our favorite resident musicians, Rodney Ruckus. He hails all the way from Miami, Florida where he began playing drums at the age of two. His shows this week will feature many Bay Area Jazz greats, in tribute to the legendary Robert Glasper. Book now, as tickets will go fast!
Ruckus is a Berklee College of Music Alumni and is touring all over the world playing music with his group called Ruckus Elevation. His recent performances include artists such as Theo Croker, Tia Fuller, Darren Barrett, Herbie Hancock, Joey Alexander, Chick Corea, Donald Brown, Billy Childs and Wynton Marsalis at venues like Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Blue Note NYC, Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy and many more all over the world. Rodney enjoys sharing his gift with all types of different communities and wants to bridge the gap of success between young musicians and the professionals. When he performs at Black Cat, he really brings the Ruckus!
