The adventurous JACK Quartet will perform composer Georg Friedrich Haas' cosmic and other-worldly Quartet No. 3, "In iij. Noct."
The piece is an hour-long work that creates a heightened listening experience by placing the musicians in four corners of the room, performing from memory in complete darkness. A 10:00pm pre-performance talk hosted by David Harrington of Kronos Quartet will be an engaging discussion of the "extreme listening experience" to come. The audience will then participate in a one-minute test of the sensation of being in the dark.
Mark Swed (Los Angeles Times) called the JACK Quartet's sold-out performances of "In iij. Noct." "mind-blowingly good."
