Hans Schirmacher uses subtle shades and soft nuances to capture landscapes from different parts of Italy, from rocky outcrops in Southern Italy studded with cacti to the cypresses, olive trees and red-roofed homes of the Tuscan countryside. Sharper lines and contrasts denote the varied architectural styles found around the country, often shown in the twilight hours whose light picks out their essential contours. Opening: 8 November, 6pm. On view Mon-Fri 10-4 until 22 November. Followed by a screening of the documentary film Finding the Mother Lode, which explores the experiences of Italian immigrants in California. Please view the IIC website for details and registration.
