Invocation: A Contemporary Fusion Belly Dance Intensive with Kami Liddle

Krysalis is a new dance program crafted by Kami Liddle. This innovative new program is launched late summer 2018 in both San Francisco, California and St Gallen, Switzerland.
The objective of the overall program is to help dancers develop and refine their knowledge base and to experience and elevate the dancer through four individual courses. The intention is not to teach dancers to dance a particular way, but rather, to nurture the path of each dancer and give them the tools to create their own authentic movement.
Krysalis consists of four courses:
Invocation: Foundation of Contemporary Fusion Belly Dance Technique Expansion: Professional Performance Intensive Conception: Choreography Creation LabElevation*: Advanced Technique *Courses can be taken individually and in no particular order except for Elevation which requires certification of Invocation before enrolling.

Invocation
This 5 day intensive will dive into the foundation of Kami Liddle’s signature style of dance that she refers to as contemporary fusion belly dance. This style fuses present-day belly dance genres with contemporary dance. Contemporary fusion belly dance combines strong leg and foot work with fluidity in the spine and precision in the torso. It emphasizes strength and flexibility, rhythmic and musical phrasing, and most importantly, self-expression. This course will cover these elements and serve as a strong base for any level dancer as they move through the Krysalis courses and their personal path as a dancer.
Each class will begin with an in-depth warm up to help build strength and flexibility aimed at creating strong dancers with increased body awareness. Warm ups will emphasize cross-training while combining Vinyasa Yoga, floor barre, and traditional modern dance exercises. Dancers will develop their dance technique including isolations, foot patterns, turns, and layering. Classes will culminate in learning full-body movement phrases, concentrating on spinal articulation, extensive arm work, and spatial intent. Dancers will learn the fundamental concepts and use the choreographic phrases provided throughout the course as a framework to find their own artistic individuality.

Prerequisites
A minimum of 3 years of dance training
The ability to dance 6 hours per class day
English language proficiency
A reading and homework assignment to be completed prior to the first day of class (required if you plan on certifying). Students will receive homework details after registration is complete.
Certification and Testing
Certification will be awarded to dancers who attend and actively participate in all classes and exercises and who pass the final exam. Testing will be done on the last day and requires an additional fee of $50. Testing is optional, but is required before enrolling in Elevation.

Payment Plan:
A $250 deposit secures your spot. Two additional payments of $200 will be scheduled once you register. All fees must be received by June 1st or your spot in the training and desposit will be forfeited.

What's the refund policy?

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
If you are not able to attend you may sell your spot to another student. Selling or transferring your spot is your responsibility. To sell your spot, please first email [email protected]. If there is a waitlist, you will be connected with the first student on the waitlist to manage payment* for the spot together. If there is no waitlist, you may seek out other students to purchase your spot. Once the spot has been purchased, please send an email confirming you have received the payment and are officially transferring your spot to [email protected], ccing the new student. All accommodations will be made for transfers up to 30 days before the first day of the course.
*Note: Transfer payments are the responsibility of the student selling their spot.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, we will have all of your info with us on the first day of class.
