Join Women's Audio Mission and Radio Valencia for Introduction to Radio Production!
Women’s Audio Mission (WAM) is a San Francisco-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of women in music production and the recording arts, a field in which women are critically under-represented (less than 5%). WAM is changing the face of sound by providing women and girls with access to and training in music production and the techniques and technology used in the recording arts.
Radio programmer and host Michele K-tel will provide an introduction to radio production, Radio Valencia, and music programming. She will lead the class in a studio demo and hands-on training with radio production equipment including device set up and live mixing.
Students will experience a live radio show, Cheap Hooch, while receiving hands-on training. Cheap Hooch features host Holly and D$ playing the best in Punk, Garage, Trash, Soul, Rockabilly and Primitive Rock 'n roll. Each episode focuses on a different genre or theme featuring local artists and covering local news with Show Recommendations, Dive Bar Review, and Crime Report.
Instructor bio: Michele K-tel hosts the weekly eclectic music show DISCO ROTO and has 15+ years of music programming experience as a former Music Director in community and public radio along with online streaming radio programming.
