In this Intro to Weaving class, learn the basics of tapestry weaving on a 14 inch frame loom with Caitlin Thomas of Studio Number Eight. Become familiar with all the tools and supplies you’ll need to start weaving on your own! We’ll cover the common terms and anatomy of a small lap loom and create your own woven wall hanging from start to finish! Experiment with different fibers to create basic shapes or try something more organic by incorporating unique materials like wool roving. Practice different knots to add to your weaving arsenal and discuss different techniques you can bring into your own unique piece!
Materials: included is your own wooden loom, yarn, and an instructional sheet.
This workshop will be on Saunday September 24th from 1-4pm at the LPP Workshop (855 Valencia Street). Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Limited to 10 students. All workshops include 20% discount in the LPP shop the day of their workshop.
If you need to cancel a class then it must be done 72 hours prior. We only give class/store credit. This is non-negotiable. Currently classes are 21+.
