Please come join us for a fun day of CD sorting!
The Internet Archive received an enormous donation of CDs from Recycled Records, and we need your help to get over 10,000 of them ready to digitize!
In order to keep the CDs from being stolen, the CDs and jewel cases were stored behind the counter while the inserts (the little booklets with lyrics and artwork in them, for you post-millennials) were displayed for the customers to look through.
We need your help matching the CDs and jewel cases with their booklets.
This job requires volunteers be sighted and have reasonably good attention to detail. All tasks can be performed sitting down or standing up. The boxes are quite heavy but Archive employees will be on hand to help anyone who may need assistance. There is a wheelchair ramp to our Great Room where the work will take place.
The collection is roughly organized by genre and alphabetically by artist or composer's last name, so it's not quite as daunting as it may seem. We'll provide all the necessary tools, including pizza, soda, and tunes for our volunteers. This is a drop-in sort of thing, so if you can't commit to the full day please stop by anyway! We appreciate any help however small. Please RSVP so we can get the food and drinks ordered, but if you forget don't worry! We'll have extra, so stop on by.
