This fast-paced six week course is an in-depth focus of oil painting techniques for those looking to build their knowledge. Become more fluent in the language of oil painting by working on a new skillset every class session. Glazing, alla prima, and pigment properties will be topics of investigation. You will have room to experiment with a variety of painting mediums, from cold wax to linseed oil, that will affect dry times, texture, and finish. Demonstrations for each new technique will be provided, in addition to support materials. You will be equipped to paint using these techniques beyond the length of the course. Daily individual feedback will be given as students tackle four complex projects, including a chance to master the ever complicated white-on-white painting. This intermediate painting course is perfect for those looking to understand more about oil painting.

Wells has recently exhibited her work in New York, Phoenix, Stanford, San Francisco, and Tel Aviv. Her latest series Honey Boo Boo's Amurrican Starquest and Beautimous investigate the world of child beauty pageants, reality television, and the ethics of fascination. SFAI is located in a residential neighborhood, and free two-hour parking is available on all of the streets immediately surrounding the school.
