Oakland Symphony and the City of Richmond host the 9th Annual Independence Eve Celebration on Monday, July 3, at Craneway Pavilion in Richmond, with Classical works inspired by pop culture, emceed by ABC’s Jonathan Bloom.
The free, family-friendly evening commences with pre-show entertainment featuring OakTown Jazz, followed by the centerpiece Oakland Symphony concert. Music Director Michael Morgan leads the 65-piece orchestra in a series of works classic to American culture across generations, including a nod to the late Carrie Fisher with Star Wars’ Princess Leia theme song, the Gladiator theme song, and the overture to Gypsy. Family-friendly interactive stations throughout the event include the Dark Room Truck novelty photo booth, and kids activity booths courtesy of event sponsors.
