Santa Cruz's Inanimate Existence has all the necessary ingredients for a kick-ass metal band: heavy growls, insanely fast drums and wicked guitar riffs. Drummer Ron Casey's ability to power through the fastest imaginable drumlines is one of the more impressive aspects of their song "The Rune of Destruction." "Morphic Fields," on the other hand, starts off with a calm, eerie melody before turning into a more evil, instrumental metal ballad. It's not as outright heavy as their other songs, but is equally powerful. (Amulya Datla)
