In Balance Group Show

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Heron Arts is pleased to announce the group exhibition In Balance featuring artists Casey Curran, Dyanna Dimick, Helena Garza, Kelly Skye, Spencer Keeton Cunningham, and Thing Thing. The exhibition explores our relationship with nature and asks how we foster a better, deeper and more harmonious relationship to our planet. The exhibition will be on view at Heron Arts until October 2nd, 2021.

In Balance will focus on the anthropocene- the current geological age, viewed as the period during which human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment. In these times of mounting environmental crises what role can art play in reconnecting us to nature and/ or realizing our inherent interconnectedness? How do we not only decenter ourselves to see the broader impact of our individual actions, but decenter the human race in order to see our collective impact on this earth?

The artists involved work in different forms and utilize different processes, but all focus on systems and relationships. Whether it's better understanding nature's systems, or the systems we created and its effects on nature. Or examining our relationship with nature, and our relationship with goods and the effects that has on the world around us.

It's time to start tweaking the way we think, interact, navigate, consume, dispose, and control the world around us.
