The SCU Improvisation Ensemble has spent several weeks studying the history and evolution in its various forms. They have examined the work and theories of some of the most influential artists on the scene and have composed and rehearsed their own improvisation-based compositions. Through these endeavors, the class has crafted their own unique voice as an ensemble and as individual improvisers. The pieces you will hear at this concert are the result of creative collaboration and thoughtful reflection on what it means to be an improviser, what it means to be a member of a collaborative ensemble, and, by extension, what it means to be a part of a larger community.
