Immersive Storytelling: Museum of the Hidden City Augmented Reality Walking Tour and Panel Discussion

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Through an immersive audio and augmented reality app, Walking Cinema: Museum of the Hidden City invites audiences to walk into the history of urban renewal in the Fillmore District of San Francisco using their smartphones. All audiences--in San Francisco and beyond--can join the project's director Michael Epstein and Samuel Getachew, a youth poet narrator you'll have met on the walking tour, for a live conversation and group discussion.

"An academic and literary exploration of one of the darkest and most significant moments in San Francisco's history. This tour is an engaging, novel way to learn about the city, all while keeping your distance from others. And the stories it tells -- about racism, affordable housing, and the evolution of neighborhoods-- feel profoundly relevant." - SF Weekly

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
- If you are in the Bay Area, DOWNLOAD THE APP and take the Museum of the Hidden City "walking tour" in the Fillmore District of San Francisco. Both the app and the walk are free and physical-distancing friendly. - ----- Wear your mask.
- Whether you have taken the tour or not, register to join the conversation on February 21st at 2:30 pm PST
- We will email you a Zoom link to join the meeting

To understand the full ramifications of urban renewal and racial segregation nationwide, this program should be paired with Where the Pavement Ends, which consists of a Rental film screening (watch anytime during the festival week) and a YouTube Livestream panel discussion on Sunday February 21, 2021 at 4:30pm PST.

FACILITATORS:
Michael Epstein, Founder/Director, Walking Cinema
Samuel Getachew, Poet
Co-Presented by Walking Cinema
