iiii, which Anthony Dean-Harris, Editor in Chief of NEXTBOP.COM recently reviewed as “a group of pure radiance,” mixes jazz training with pop and R&B influences to forge a new and captivating sound. In 2013, iiii recorded and released its self-titled debut album of original songs. The group —Laila M. Smith, Paul Bloom, Connor Schultze, and Jeremy Dutton — also released an EP, “Run iiii Cover,” which includes versions of songs by Marvin Gaye and Al Green. Originally from the East Coast the members met in college; in addition to performing and recording, the group works together to share its love for music by giving workshops, clinics, and presentations to educate younger students.
