Local drummer Wally Schnalle found an innovative approach to jazz-combining his love for traditional jazz sounds with cutting-edge electronica and marrying them into his latest project, Idiot Fish. Schnalle, who's been known for decades in the South Bay as a phenomenal '70s-style jazz-fusion drummer, does it all in this project: he plays the drums while also controlling the programming on the computers and other electronic devices he's playing along with. Schnalle is also backed by a traditional jazz-funk style combo, with Frank Martin on keys, Hristo Vitchev on guitar and Joe Costantini on bass. (Amulya Datla)
