Bay Area musician Howard Wiley has been in the local music scene since he was a teenager. Tonight, he will be wowing us as the bandleader of Extra Nappy, an all-star quartet featuring Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen, bassist Michael “Tiny” Lindsey, and veteran organist L.J. Holoman. They play a mix of jazz fusion influenced by a little funk with a whole lot of soul.
Extra Nappy’s band members have played alongside some of music’s finest voices, among them Lauryn Hill, Sheila E, Christian McBride, Alicia Keys, Steely Dan, Boyz II Men, Nas, the Mars Volta and Thundercat. They will be downstairs at Black Cat Thursday through Saturday but these tickets will go quick! Come turn up the heat with us!
