How We Heal is not just an art exhibit, but it is a celebration of both Caroline Poyaoan and Anna Marie Morrow's individual journeys through their art practice to a place of recovery. It is an opportunity for their community of family and friends and their wider network of Tenderloin Community Members to come together to share in their joy & growth.
For both artists, Hospitality House's Community Arts Program provides a place to access the freedom of self-expression, artistic inspiration and human connections which has helped grow their art practice and heal their souls.
Opening Reception will take place on Friday 20th September 2019, 4-8PM at Hospitality House' Community Art Program, 1009 Market St (& 6th St) San Francisco. Exhibit runs through October 18th.
Please join us for a night of storytelling, musical performances, and poetry to celebrate the power of art & community featuring performances by Power Struggle, Solidarity Wave, Freska, Jesse James Johnson, Charles Blackwell, Sherri Lu, Jassmin Poyaoan and friends of the Healing Well.
ABOUT Hospitality House Community Arts Program (CAP)
Founded in 1969, Hospitality House's Community Arts Program, the City's only free fine arts studio for low-income artists, is an award-winning creative community and unique social enterprise. Artists refine their creative talents through skills-building workshops, reach broader audiences and exposure through exhibitions and thematic art shows, and keep 100% of the proceeds from their art sales, promoting the arts - and artists - as economic assets for the greater community. The Community Arts Program offers an outlet for creative self-expression and cultural connectivity that would otherwise be unattainable by offering neighborhood artist resources and materials to create, exhibit, and sell their artwork.
