JTC The Metro-Detroiter has been an active DJ/producer since the mid 90s and is one of the first artists signed to Ghostly International/Spectral Sound. Under his many aliases (Dabrye, James T. Cotton, SK-1, etc.), JTC has created his own world of unique sounds, from hip-hop to acid techno to abstract electronics. While pursuing various other styles of electronic music, JTC keeps the music of his birth name in the experimental canon of sound. From Winking to 2002’s heady Panes EP and into his various aliases, Mullinix continues to keep listeners guessing. Indeed, he is one of the few artists with the diverse talent and ability to successfully fill not just one musical career, but many.
Tyrel Williams has been a mainstay of Chicago’s underground House scene for years. He began mixing records in 1999. Soon later he landed a job at Gramaphone Records where he spent many years building his collection of dance records. He spent 2008-2011 building his Acid Test residency at Smart Bar, which is an all vinyl House / Techno party. Guests have included Derrick Carter, Traxx, Justin Long, Convextion, Dave Aju, and Tevo Howard. Since then he’s moved to San Francisco where he is a resident DJ for Housepitality. He has also recently started a project with Bryan Bai-ee called Secret Studio with releases on their own label called Secret Studio Records.
DJ Sep is the founder, promoter, and main resident DJ at Dub Mission. Now in its 19th year, Dub Mission is one of the longest-running parties in the world, presenting cutting-edge dub, roots reggae and dancehall every Sunday at the Elbo Room. Voted Bay Area’s Best Reggae Club three times by S.F. Bay Guardian readers, Dub Mission has featured artists from all over the world, including Adrian Sherwood & the ON-U Sound System, Mad Professor & the Ariwa Sound System, the Scientist, Mungo’s Hi Fi, Soom T, Solo Banton, Jahdan Blakkamoore, Zion Train, Prince Fatty and many others. For 22 years, Sep was also on Bay Area radio: first at college radio station KUSF and later at Berkeley’s public radio station, KPFA. She is the co-compiler (with producer/dj Shockman) of Babylon Is Ours: The USA in Dub, a collection of all-exclusive American dub tracks released on Select Cuts Records.
