ART RECEPTION "PORTRAITS & LACE"
2-3pm
Our Hippodrome window gallery will be filled this month by Ancestral Portraits of Victorians who lived near and far. The series “Portraits & Lace” features a collection of oil-painted portraits of bygone Victorian era men and women. In one window gallery, you can discover where some of these people lived or emigrated from and in the second window, we dive into a particular family tree where you can see just how many people we have come from. The series was born out of recognition of what can be learned from the lives of those who came before us and the artist’s desire to call attention to their stories.

Sierra Lowe is an emerging artist, painting and curating forgotten lives in San Francisco. Her passion for genealogy and her desire to reawaken the past is what drives her to paint colorful portraits of subjects that are over a century old. She received her BA in Studio Art from Marist College in 2010.
