SF Bay Area Artist Monica Loncola creates art inspired by subject matter both manmade and from nature.
Objects are drawn or painted floating in space or in rows creating spatial tension between shapes giving rise to an imagined but familiar recollection.
Architectural elements juxtaposed with organic or found objects all share the elements of line, form, color and contrast which the artist places together suggesting a narrative thread throughout her work.
“What I draw or paint comes from a sub-conscious familiarity with my subject matter. It feels like I have a guttural pull to render what I see. My intent is to bring the viewer into an intimate space of observation.”
Monica Loncola studied at the Arts Students League, NYC, Moore College of Art, Phila and holds a BFA in Studio Arts form Rosemont College, Bryn Mawr, PA.
