High Flying Jade makes its premiere at SF DocFest, Saturday, June 1st at the Roxie Theater at 12:15 pm with additional screening at 7 pm on Monday, June 3rd. Star of the film, Jade White, will be in attendance.
Jade White is a complicated, bipolar female protagonist navigating the
borders of her personality disorder and suicidal inclinations while flying through the air in aerial circus acts.
A lifelong adventurer, Jade attempts to reconcile her high-pressured past life as an air traffic controller and overcome the rigorous demands of training for the opening night at a Vietnamese circus.
Director Katherine Sweetman utilizes unrestricted access to her subject and locations to present a mental-health positive, anti-suicidal film built through nuanced story structure and emotive visual effects-enhanced
imagery.
This film embraces San Francisco's spirit of innovation and adventure. High Flying Jade synthesizes and internalizes those ideas as she uses active mindfulness to not only overcome her Bipolar and Personality Disorder diagnoses but to redefine it on her own terms.
Jade White reminds us not to give up and delivers a life-affirming,
meaningful message of validation to all of us about overcoming our external and internal hardships.
Come see the world premiere of this 30-minute documentary film as part of the ASK ME ABOUT MY JOB block of short films. June 1st, 12:15pm/ June 3rd, 7pm.
