Back in 1993, the Chicago based sleaze-punk band Dwarves issued a press release stating that guitarist had been stabbed to death. It wasn't true, they just thought it would be funny. Their record label, Sub-Pop, disagreed and quickly dropped the band. It was just one of the many pointless, self-sabotaging pranks that have defined the band's three-decade career. HEWHOCANNOTBENAMED, the guitarist who wasn't stabbed in 1993, plays frequent solo shows (wearing nothing but a luchador mask and tighty whities, of course). While his music isn't as heavy as the Dwarves, it still has the influence of punk, garage, surf, hardcore, and a lot of over-the-top, not-giving-a-shit camp. (Aaron Carnes)
