This month we're featuring our new Artist in Residence Strider Patton at the TechShop Gallery! Stop by to enjoy the unveiling of Patton's work along with refreshments.
Artist Statement | Heuristic Forms is a visual exploration into the intersections of identity, form, culture, space, and connection. This new body of work by Strider is unlike anything from his past 10 years as a working artist. Through this residency program and exhibition, Strider has bridged his understandings of painting with his new findings in sculptural form, navigating the powerful connections between space, value, depth, gravity and shadow.
Artist Bio | Strider Patton is a San Francisco based artist who has lived his life in the crossroads of art and altruism. Combining artistic practice with social awareness and compassion, Strider has been devoting his work toward how art can change the world. After earning a master's degree in anthropology and social change, he has been connecting the dots between culture, craft, story and meaning, creating unique experiences that invite observer reflection and participation. Strider brings a unique multidisciplinary approach to his projects from his academic training as an anthropologist and self-taught practice as an artist. His work, at it’s core, is made to start conversation while being mindful of the human condition, to gently remind us of our shared humanity and that we are all one. After over a decade of creating street art and murals, Strider has moved into the sculptural realm, creating unique work that bridge his core understandings of painting with new findings in 3 dimensional forms.
