This started as a small gathering of women at my restaurant but due to the overwhelming response and support we got, we are doing this event at a larger scale. We will be having it at the google conference space in San Francisco and we aim for 200 women to attend. The purpose of this event is for women to tell their life stories to inspire and empower other women. Create a camaraderie amongst women to build and support one another through experiences and tragedies and overcoming them.
We are flying out a speaker from Arizona. Shani Campbell who is also the fiancé of Keegan Kuhn, the very popular co-director of the Netflix film What the Health, Cowspiracy and director of the recent documentary, Running for Good. I met Shani 2 years ago when I first opened my restaurant. Since then we have been virtual friends and every time I would read her stories online, It would move me and challenge my mind. What has stayed with me is the story about her sister and her sister's best friend’s brutal murder and her sending a letter to the man in prison to forgive him. The theme is about overcoming tragedy through forgiveness.
This will be a night of stories that heal, inspire, and empower. Everyday women that have incredible stories. Women that have experienced tragedies and have overcome them through forgiveness.
