Winner of 4 Tony Awards! Hedwig is an "internationally ignored song stylist," a fourth-wall smashing East German rock 'n' roll goddess. This outrageous and unexpectedly hilarious story is dazzlingly performed by Hedwig in the form of a rock gig/stand-up comedy routine backed by the fictional band, The Angry Inch.
Shotgun Players booked the Bay Area band Skip the Needle to play the part of "The Angry Inch" and capture the glam-rock vibe. "This show is a dream come true for us," guitarist/vocalist Shelley Doty says of the band. "We are a black dyke rock band ready to find the funk, the love, and bring down the house!"
The show is directed by Richard A. Mosqueda (he/she/they) and features Pangaea Colter (she/her), Elizabeth Curtis (she/her), and Shelley Doty, Kofy Brown, Katie Colpitts, and Vicki Randle as The Angry Inch. Chris Steele is the Understudy for Hedwig, and May Ramos is the understudy for Yitzhak.
