Hayes Life Presents: DAWN & HAWKES, Quiles & Cloud, Daisy O'Connor

Dawn & Hawkes

Miranda Dawn and Chris Hawkes first met in 2010 when he crossed an Austin barroom floor and asked her to dance. A modest beginning became an undeniable attraction the first time they sang together and created a sound Texas Monthly coined as "undeniably intimate". Miranda Dawn admits “Our harmony just fell in and that was the moment we both felt that we should sing together. Something happened and it was as if there was suddenly this third voice.” She continues with more than a hint of genuine wonder “I’d sung harmony with other people before, but this was definitely its own beast.” “We were cynical about love before each other,” concedes Dawn, “...but maybe that’s actually why we’re able to sing about love the way we do today. In the past, I’d sing a heartache song and see people who really needed some of that hope brought by the light at the end of a sad song. I’d never thought the same relief could come out of a love song, but the response to us sharing our lives has been overwhelming. Maybe people need to hear about a little hope and love out there.”

Quiles & Cloud

Modern troubadours with a timeless blend that beckons to be heard in the truest sense. Both graceful and honest; music that reflects upon the vast and uncharted landscape of existence with heart and humble sensitivity. Poetry and emotion carried soft as feathers on a wind-like current of acoustic sound. When Quiles & Cloud take the stage, there is no mistaking the dual nature of music as it exists balanced between action and silence. Each breath every bit as meaningful as the notes they fall between.

Daisy O'Connor

In response to her quarter life crisis, singer-songwriter Daisy O’Connor quit her career in social work and hit the road to write songs, live simply, and “do be do” what she loves today. “Music saved my life, reaching my darkest moments and reminding me I’m not alone. I want to shine that light back.” An engaging, humorous, and candid performer, Daisy prefers to perform solo - folksinger style- and tours as much as she can, always taking the road less traveled.
