Hayes Life & The Bay Bridged Present: FOG CITY FEST (Night 1)

SEE EVENT DETAILS
David Luning

John Prine forced David Luning to drop out of college. Not at gunpoint or anything— the two had never even met—but the effect of hearing the songwriting legend's music for the first time had an equally compelling effect on Luning, who was studying film scoring at the Berklee College of Music in Boston at the time. Now an accomplished artist in his own right, Luning is preparing to release his most dynamic and gripping collection to date, 'Restless,' and he can trace it all back to one fateful night that changed everything.

If you’re a fan of indie rock in the bay area, chances are you’ve heard and appreciated the vocal contributions of Alycia Lang without even realizing it. Whether providing lush vocals and instrumentation in Bay Area favorite, Waterstrider, or sneaking in vocal cameos in any number of other bay area bands, she’s been lending her talents to projects since 2013 when when she re-emerged from a 3-year hiatus and landed in the vibrant music and art scene in Oakland.

John Courage has been honing his skills as a songwriter, guitarist and producer for over 10 years in the music communities of Northern California, with stints in the Pacific Northwest and the high desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico. With a flair for vintage inspired rock and roll that takes cue from the Texas singer songwriter scene of the 70's, John Courage creates a sound that at once feels familiar yet urgent.

Sisters Amanda and Julianna Salguero make up the twin chambers of King Willow’s wistfully beating heart. With a sound some have likened to First Aid Kit, their original music shows a range from slower huskier numbers to upbeat and clever pop anthems. The Salguero sisters lure you in with their vulnerability, sultry harmonies, and glossy nostalgic finish.

Scott Padden makes rock and roll music with his band, The Evangelicals. He enjoys it almost as much as he enjoyed last Friday night, when he stayed home, meticulously reorganized his dish cabinet, and watched Star Trek II for the 43rd time. Over the past four years, he has put nearly 20,000 miles on his friend Avi's Vinocur's van. He will definitely put out an EP later this year.

M. the Heir Apparent is a Berkeley, California-based singer/songwriter, etc. whose singular brand of confessional songwriting and emotive vocals have earned him the opportunity to share the stage with artists as dynamic and diverse as Jon Bellion, Cody Simpson, Tennis, Laura Gibson, Matt Pond PA, Holly Miranda, David Ryan Harris, John Craigie and many, many more.

Jean Terrace resides in Oakland, California. She likes plants, cats, guitars, and lazy days by the lake.

The Holy Dark is an emerging Portland based Gloom/Folk outfit formed by songwriter John Miller. The upcoming record “Pretty Little Bird” which was recorded in 2017 at Toadhouse Recording Studios with Adam Pike in Portland, Oregon explores the mysterious and often times bewildering complexities of human emotion.
