Storefront Institute's inaugural program takes a look at the idea of habits - what they are, how they help and hinder - and asks a question: do you have one of those persistent ways of doing or thinking that you keep repeating over and over, even though it’s not actually what you want? In this Lesson, we'll think about "automaticity" and look at how its opposite, mindfulness, is essential to changing any habit. Practitioner Carley Hauck will help us explore how our thoughts drive our behaviors and think about specific tools for changing a habit for good. "Habits" also asks us to consider how compassion can be essential for creating new routines.
Practitioner Bio:
Carley Hauck works as an educator, life coach, writer, mindfulness researcher, and change practitioner. She believes that mindfulness is the first step towards greater well-being at work and home. Her approach combines mindfulness with coaching, psychotherapy, behavior change, and positive psychology.
Critically, she also brings evidence-based academic and medical research to her approach. This attention to what really works comes through in her coaching and consulting practice, Intuitive Wellness, and in her classes on mindfulness, behavior change, and food as medicine at Stanford University’s Center for Integrative Medicine.
