New Exhibit ‘Grounds for Change’ Opens August 25
Exhibit held in conjunction with Asia Week San Francisco Bay Area
The Town of Danville’s Village Theatre Art Gallery is proud to participate alongside other arts and culture organizations in the Bay Area in featuring artwork and by Asian American and Asian Artists.
Asia Week San Francisco Bay Area is an event that takes place each year in October in the Bay Area and focuses on presenting premier quality programs including art exhibitions and artist talks. This year the Village Theatre and Art Gallery is proud to participate and will be featuring artwork of Asian American and Asian Artists in a celebration of Asian arts and culture.
About the Curator:
Pallavi Sharma is a multidisciplinary artist, and her research interest concerns Asian American women's cultural production, and activism. She is a board member of Asian American Women Artist Association (AAWAA) and Director of ‘Inner Eye Art’, a nonprofit arts organization in San Ramon, CA. Pallavi received her BFA and MFA (Art History) at the Faculty of Fine Arts Baroda, India and Ph.D. from National Museum Institute of History of Art, Museology, and Conservation.
The following artists will be exhibiting their work: Shailly Sharma Bhatnagar, Lenore Chinn, Lydia Nakashima Degarrod, Reiko Fujii, Indrani Nayar-Gall, Alka Raghuram, Scott Tsuchitani, Yichuan Wang, Irene Wibawa, and artistic collaborators, Lois Bielefeld and Nirmal Raja
An Opening Reception for the exhibition is scheduled for Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Complimentary refreshments will be served. The exhibit runs through October 20, 2018.
The Village Theatre and Art Gallery is open to visitors Wednesday through Friday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday by appointment only. The Art Gallery is closed on Sundays. Admission is free.
