Ground In Sound: Sound Healing and Restorative Yoga

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Let's spend a Sunday afternoon with restorative yoga and sound healing together in community!

You are cordially invited to a monthly collaborative session presented by Ground in Sound:

RESTORATIVE YOGA (WITH AROMATHERAPY & HOT STONES) AND SOUND HEALING

Restorative yoga is an all level gentle practice comprised of long-held supported poses and calming breath work. This experience is designed to activate the body's innate relaxation response which invites healing and restores balance. Most postures are done on the ground with multiple props so that the body is completely supported at all times. This supportive practice allows the nervous system to calm, and the mind to rest. The calming characteristics of restorative yoga soothes the mind-body, while allowing room for breath and deep relaxation. As an added layer of relaxation, there will be hot stones and essential oils for balance and aromatherapy.

Soak in the sacred vibrational sounds of the singing bowls, planetary gong, tuning forks, chimes and more.

We will start with vocal meditation to tune our bodies. Our voice, the most potent healing instrument, will open our hearts and prepare us to receive the vibration of instruments while in restorative and meditative poses.

Please bring whatever will make you comfortable while lying down (or sitting). We recommend a yoga mat, pillow, eye mask, blanket, and water bottle. Wear comfortable, loose clothes, in layers.

Doors open at 4pm so please arrive early to set up your spot. We start at 4:30pm. No late entries.

*Limited Capacity.* Please buy a ticket in advance to reserve a spot.

Advance ticket: $40

Door ticket: $50 (cash only)

ABOUT FACILITATOR:

JENNIE CHIEN discovered how much of a positive impact her yoga practice had on life, both mentally and physically. She realized she wanted to share her passion and practice with others and she continued her journey by completing 200-hour Yoga Alliance teaching certification through yoga tree. She seeks to pass on her compassion, knowledge, and practice with her students through her teaching focused on combining breathe and movement. She hopes to provide students with a space of comfort and a class that leaves them feeling well-rounded and at ease in mind and body. Jennie is a resident yoga teacher at Envelop.

HYEJIN YU is a sound practitioner, songstress, composer, and song carrier based in San Francisco. In recent years, HyeJin has been fascinated with vibrational sound therapy, vocal meditation, song circles, mantras, and chants, and how they can be used to balance our bodies which led to her training as a Sound Healing Practitioner under Minna Sivola of Harmoniaalto, and Lauren Waggoner of Soundology as well as becoming a certified teacher of Yoga Of The Voice from Silvia Nakkach's Vox Mundi School of Sound and Voice. Her intention is to create a safe space for individuals as well as community at large to explore with sound and voice to be in-body and to be fully present here and now to experience life in joy, so we can be healers of our own body, mind and spirit!

TESTIMONIALS:

HyeJin is an immensely gifted sound healer with a kind, compassionate heart. I first had a group session with her when I arrived in the Bay Area for a month-long work assignment, and it did wonders to help me unwind from my travels and prepare me for the month. My experience during the group session prompted me to book a private with her, which was an incredible experience of connecting with my voice and clarifying my life's purpose. HyeJin also shares intuitive insights that she gains during the session, which have been very helpful for me in making sense of my life. I have never had sound healing previous to meeting her, but have had experiences with energy- and bodywork. I am very glad I discovered another healing modality that complements and deepens what I have already experienced. Her broad knowledge base about energy work, shamanism, and spirituality is also a plus and helped me feel comfortable in sharing mystical experiences I've had. I am so grateful to have met her! Highly recommend! - Tracy

HyeJin holds space with compassion, love and acceptance so I felt safe to explore my inner terrain while she skillfully used singing bowls, tuning forks and other exotic instruments in the session. The sounds and vibrations allowed me to journey deep into my heart and higher states of consciousness. The session helped me release energetic knots in my system. I felt very centered, open and clear after the session. I am very grateful for the shift that I experienced HyeJin is a humble and gifted healer! - Victoria

The sound bath was a wonderful way to start off the week. Focusing on sound, vibrations, and the intentions HyeJin set made it easy to turn off my brain and "let go" (compared to silent meditation). She's very knowledgeable, welcomes questions, and overall provided a very secure space to get more in touch with myself. Can't wait to return! - Margaret
