The bulk of Gringo Moko's discography was composed improvisationally, from his time playing at bars and on buses across Guatemala. His sound is rooted in up-tempo Cumbia and Balkan beats, intermingled with folk, gospel, and alternative influences, and calls on a medley of improvised, digital, and DIY instruments to form the uniquely patchwork playstyle of his lively, high-energy live shows.
Butterhaus' modest beginnings began as three roommates in Bernal Heights, a mutual love for butter and an overjoyous song about kale. Three years later, their sound has evolved into a soul mix of indie blues with pop influences, still laced in that same earnest love for each other, their music, and the community their music can create. Butterhaus is excited to be releasing their second album, the Butter Years right here at Hotel Utah on April 12th, 2019!
Mister ha started playing guitar when he was in 8th grade back in 2004 when he overheard his crush saying, "I like boys who play guitar and sing" and emo pop punk was all the rage. While the subject of his songs hasn't changed much, his taste and style evolved as he started to integrate r&b, hip hop, and jazz into his sound. All of these styles come together in his most recent album "TextEdit" soon to release on all streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple music, and Pandora.
