The Omni Foundation for the Performing Arts concludes its 2013-2014 season with a double-bill featuring Russian classical/flamenco guitarist Grigory Goryachev and Belgian virtuoso Jerome Mouffe.
Grisha Goryachev
A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, Grisha Goryachev is renowned for his extraordinary musical sensitivity and technical virtuosity in both classical and flamenco styles.
Goryachev began to play the guitar at the age of six and enjoyed an extensive career as a child prodigy, performing regularly before large audiences in the most prestigious concert halls of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Minsk, Riga, and other major cities. In 1991, Goryachev was awarded the second prize of the Danny Kaye International Children Awards held in the Hague, Netherlands. Later that same year, he was invited to perform at the UN headquarters in New York City. Following a tour of Spain, Goryachev was invited to play for flamenco legend, Paco de Lucía,
Goryachev now lives in the US, having received his Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Musical Arts (dissertation pending) degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he studied under famous guitar virtuoso Eliot Fisk. Jerome Mouffe is a virtuoso guitarist from Belgium who has dazzled international audiences with his passionate and spontaneous playing. Jerome has toured extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and Western Europe.
