GREEN GORILLA LOUNGE FT. MAGDA | MAKES ME MOVE | ANTHONY MANSFIELD | JIMMY B | CHUWEE

Magda

Magda’s realm as an artist spans far beyond the typical role played by DJs and producers. With an open mind, Magda will try her hand at whatever feels right – from tech collaborations, fashion and art, to producing high-quality Tequila – creating a truly unique, multifaceted expression of herself.

Born in Poland and raised in Detroit, Magda has soaked up the various characteristics of her surroundings, learning to find beauty and potential in the most derelict and depressed of places. As a teenager partying in Detroit, it wasn’t long until Magda was fully immersed in the city’s underground scene. In 1998, she joined Minus and began touring the world as Richie Hawtin’s opening DJ. She honed her skills under the Minus umbrella but since has forged her own path, including almost a decade spent running the popular label Items & Things together with Troy Pierce and Marc Houle.

Magda’s touring schedule is amongst the most high-profile and demanding around. She’s proved herself as a consistent, adventurous and top-quality performer, with a knack for bringing tracks together in unexpected ways. As well as notable accolades such as a BBC 1 Essential Mix and playing at Timewarp’s live streamed 20th anniversary, Magda has been behind some stand-out commercial mixes, such as the truly seminal ‘She’s A Dancing Machine’ in 2006, her similarly intricate fabric 49 CD and most recently a two-disc mix compilation for Balance.

Though solo Magda releases are relatively rare, there’s no doubt her ability extends beyond the booth to the studio. In the fall of 2010, Magda revealed her debut on Minus, ‘From The Fallen Page’. It combined her love for Italian horror composition, Detroit techno futurism and straight-forward dancefloor functionality into a quality body of work that still sounds fresh today. She has also remixed the likes of Plastikman and Depeche Mode.

Collaboration has become a vital part of Magda’s studio work. Most recently, she has worked with T.B. Arthur, releasing a 12” of hard-hitting, modular acid under the name Blotter Trax. The duo are preparing a live PA to be debuted in 2017, as well as a new EP made together with BMG from Ectomorph. Also grounded in the concept of collaboration is her new event series, PERM. It began with a string of successful events in Berlin over 2016, all exploring innovative visual and musical ideas, and soon will branch out to become a record label with the same ethos. Magda continues to explore new creative avenues, each of them executed with the stamp of quality she has come to represent.

MAKES ME MOVE AKA DJ M3

MAKES ME MOVE aka dj M3 , is a respected and highly-experienced San Francisco Bay Area DJ, promoter and venue owner. He started out in 1994 with an infectious downtempo style of playing and over time honed it into a fluid, uptempo approach that is composed of house, techno and disco. This characteristically Bay Area method of DJing was carefully and thoughtfully developed by moving and delighting dance floors at his own Green Gorilla Lounge party, an event that he hosted at club and underground spaces all over San Francisco with Anthony Masnfield and starting the Disco Knights camp at BRC. In fact, Green Gorilla Lounge stands out as mythical in the city’s rich history of dance music clubs and parties.

Green Gorilla Lounge soon became well-known as an event where clubbers and music enthusiasts could hear legendary and soon-to-be legendary local and out-of-town talent. Many years of hosting and playing at these always exhuberant events allowed DJ M3 to become one of the San Francisco DJs who truly defined the sound of the city in the 1990s and into the next two decades. The parties also helped him develop his craft further and provided a platform from which he launched his Green Gorilla Lounge record label. His collaborations with Phil ‘Rene’ Collis of Bachelors of Science led to their further alliance as Sleight of Hands and to releases on Green Gorilla Lounge and other respected imprints such as, Smoke ’N’ Mirrors, Om, Sirenum, and Chillin’ Records. As Sleight of Hands they performed together at Outsidelands and Coachella in 2013 and at the San Francisco Treasure Island Music Festival in 2014.

DJ M3 moved onto other ambitious projects like the Tweakin'/Black Pancake record store and Triple Crown nightclub and has kept moving forward with his passion for music. He is now co-owner, along with Chris Smith of Om Records, of one of San Francisco’s best clubs, a central, downtown named Monarch and Great Northern in the design district. When he is not in the studio crafting future dance floor classics, he can be found rocking clubs, bars and underground parties all over the city with his signature DJ sound. With a colorful past behind him and a creative and future ahead there is no doubt that he will continue with his lifelong love of being behind the turntables and making music.

ANTHONY MANSFIELD

Anthony Mansfield has been on a 20-year journey through the world of psychedelic dance music ever since attending the now-legendary full moon massives of San Francisco’ s Wicked Crew in the early 90’ s. Anthony spent the rest of the decade
in New York, spreading the gospel of deep house across the Empire State with a late-night radio show, his 8-year-running weekly, and the countless underground parties that gave birth to his own crew, HectorWorks Soundsystem. After an exhausting and debaucherous 2-year run as GM, talent booker, and resident DJ at upstate’ s largest live music venue, The Odyssey, Anthony was ready to return to San Francisco. Anthony hit the West Coast running in 2002, joining his old friend DJ M3 as
resident DJ and co-promoter of the infamous Green Gorilla Lounge in a string of successful weekly club nights, true seat-of-your-pants underground parties, and blown-out monthly events across the Bay Area, with some of the city’ s and world’ s best names in dance music. Anthony has left his mark on Burning Man for the last decade as well, at the Space Lounge, Green Gorilla, and Disco Knights sound camps, with a trail of exhausted dancers and party people in the wake of his many epic sets on the playa. Anthony has been producing his own particular brand of dance music since his first release on Rong Records in ’ 04 with Ben Cook as “ Barfly” . Quickly moving to found his own label, Hector Works, in 2005 with NYC deep-house production wizard
Nick Chacona, Anthony has worked with Garth, Tal M. Klein, Sneak-E Pete, M3, and others in the last five years, releasing tracks on Gomma, Moodmusic, Aniligital , and Om Records. His tunes have received nods (and plays) from some of the world’ s top
DJs, including Dimitri from Paris, Harvey, Greg Wilson, Doc Martin, Idjut Boys, Ivan Smaggle, and Playgroup. Camped out in his room at Moulton Studios, Anthony is currently hard at work on the 16th release for Hector Works, and looking forward to taking a break for the Treasure Island Music Festival!
