Thes-One (People Under the Stairs)
Los Angeles based People Under The Stairs, Double K (Michael Turner) and Thes One (Christopher Portugal) are the most successful fully independent hip-hop duo in the history of Hip-Hop. Since their initial full length release in 1998, People Under The Stairs have performed more than a thousand sold out shows, festivals and world tours spanning 6 continents and 40 countries. With a pioneering DIY ethic, “The P” as they are referred to by their fans, have self-managed, produced and engineered 7 full-length albums and countless singles and side projects. The musical sensibility punctuating their unique brand of hip-hop has not only earned them the title “The Steely Dan of Rap Music” but consistent critical acclaim and numerous appearances on the Billboard Charts. Their illustrious career includes an appearance on The Simpson’s 20th Anniversary Special, a John Peele Session at Abbey Road, and groundbreaking performances at key festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella and Bonaroo, the last of which was noted by SPIN magazine as “Simply the best performance of Friday… Period”. As part of their 10 year Anniversary World Tour in 2009, People Under The Stairs travelled to new continents with sold out shows in China, Brazil and Africa and continued to tour through 2010 with main stage plays at Outside Lands Festival, Governors Ball NYC and many others. With their ambitious eighth studio album, Highlighter, just recently released, the P will be heading out in the fall with Mac Miller and continuing to play festivals and shows worldwide.


DJ DAY
DJ Day (Damien Beebe) is a DJ, producer and musician hailing from Palm Springs, California. With an illustrious career spanning two decades, he was recently named “Palm Spring’s Finest” and for good reason: His contributions to the various avant-garde music scenes in Southern California run deep. From the historic Root Down parties of Los Angeles to the infamous Do-Over, Day has garnered respect from peers and fans alike for his eclectic, well-executed DJ sets and diverse taste in music. His debut album, The Day Before (MPM, 2008) rose to the top of numerous notable playlists, including those of Giles Peterson, Jeremy Sole and Philly's Cosmo Baker.

Not content being defined by one craft, he gracefully transitions between being a DJ/turntablist, musician and beat maker; a talent best exemplified by his ambitious forthcoming release Land Of 1000 Chances. He has toured the world many times over as a solo artist and with fellow musicians Aloe Blacc, Exile and People Under the Stairs. Amongst numerous accolades, he was nominated for Song of the Year awards both by the BBC and The Village Voice and his music has been licensed for commercials by DC Shoes, Red Bull Music Academy, Rane/Serato, and numerous full length feature films. Day recently returned from from touring Russia, Europe and New Zealand to finish the recording and mixing of 1000 Chances.

Currently, Day is working with Thes One on the management and expansion of the artist collective Piecelock 70 and holds a weekly night at the renowned Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. Land Of 1000 Chances is scheduled to drop in January 2013, with booking underway on a world tour to support the release.


Tom Thump
DJ Tom Thump has been making his mark on discriminating dancefloors for 2 plus decades, from Detroit, Los Angeles and San Francisco. He has the ability to assimilate and present the music and mood necessary for virtually any situation. His knowledge of the world of music is deep, his skills, allowing the musical language speak clearly and powerfully, in several genres. Electronica, funk, world, soul, house, afrobeat, disco, edits and most everything in-between.

Formally manager and buyer at the world renowned Groove Merchant Records, San Francisco and was credited in URB Magazine as one of the "Next" 100, He has also appeared in several other magazines (Straight No Chaser/BPM..), news dailies and blogs.

Touring the world, Tom has also played gigs in London, Berlin, Budapest, Basel, Montreal, Vancouver, Seattle, New York, Denver, Auckland, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Tom has played alongside Gilles Peterson, Kruder and Dorfmeister, Mark Farina, Thievery Corporation, Fat Freddy's Drop, Nickodemus, Morrissey, Jamiroquai, Femi Kuti, Tricky, Morcheeba, The Original Meters, Roy Ayers, Gang of Four, George Clinton, Boozoo Bajou, Bonobo, Herbert, 4Hero and many more.

Also, an avid vinyl collector, he has a collection of nearly 20.000 records, encompassing Jazz / Funk / Reggae / Disco / Experimental / Rock and more.

He has Programmed / Sequenced and Mixed six commercially released Compilations on Cosmic Flux (SF) and Kinkysweet Records(LA),and has released a remix of San Francisco Producer/Artist Romanowski with DJ U9lift,also, producing a booty moving remix of Funkadelic's "Standing on the Verge of Getting It On" with DJ Smash (Blue Note Records).

In this time, Tom has also hosted and played at some of San Francisco's biggest, and best club nights, such as, Release, Budonkadonk!, Twice as Nice, Mushroom Jazz and Loose Joints!. Often boundary pushing, always satisfying.


Dj Centipede
Mophono, who set out to master the machines that threatened to be the masters of men, was born in 1976 in the Bay Area. From his early childhood he showed a strong passion for science, math and music. He was to be an inventor/engineer, but music had the greater gravitational pull, and he finally devoted himself to electronic music.
Mophono aka DJ Centipede wanted "to take the mystery out of the legend that says electronic music is an art that is esoteric, exclusively reserved for a few initiates, an elite of avant-garde intellectuals and artists" he adds "it deserves to be raised to the level of popular music, a music designed for fun and relaxation" and so Circuit studios was born in Lower Haight, San Francisco for the experimental researches of Thug Jazz and Dirt Wave.

While electronic and sample based music matured In the nineties, so did Mophono’s career as the most successful experimental electronic dance music DJ in the bay area. Booked at many of the underground raves until April of 1998 when one Oakland warehouse dance floor collapsed during one of his epic DJ sets, ending an era and starting a new one. DJ Centipede aka Mophono then focused his attention on the growing bay area beat scene, perfected his production and beat juggling skills while promoting San Francisco’s most forward thinking events.
Since then Mophono has released two full length albums and a slew of singles giving birth to two new genre’s Thug Jazz and Dirt Wave and a new standard in the record industry called Skip on Beat.

Inspired by 60’s psyche and experimental electronic music, Mophono Is known for his destructive drum breaks and heavy and orchestral instrumental compositions. With his legendary weekly “Change the Beat” party in San Francisco, Mophono is so deep in the beat culture melting pot he is stirring it. Performing live at the Brainfeeder festival (Flying Lotus brain child) with long time partner Gaslamp Killer and sharing the stage with DJ Shadow Amon Tobin, Edan, DJ Food, DJ Krush, Dabrye, Diplo and De La Soul with his Skip on Beat records, drum machines and moogs, Mophono intends to set a new standard in live electronic music performance.
