Good Ol' Girls Advocacy Workshop with CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations)

Learn how to use your voice and passion to influence policies on both the state and national level. Join us to learn advocacy tools and techniques so you can become a more effective advocate! Whether you’re new to social action or a seasoned advocate, this is an opportunity for you to gain new skills and connect with other progressive women.
This unique advocacy workshop will be facilitated by Sameena Usman, Government Relations Coordinator with CAIR SF Bay Area. CAIR's mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
This workshop will cover topics including:


How a bill becomes a law


How to advocate for or against a bill on both the state and national level


Different methods of advocacy

Speaking at hearings



Attendees will have an opportunity to practice skills such as letter writing and role-play meetings with legislators.
