The Ray Collett Rare & Extraordinary Plants Lecture Series continues with a special presentation with Dr. Erika Zavaleta, a Pepper-Giberson Professor of Environmental Studies at UC Santa Cruz. Currently pursuing research to enhance the stewardship, understanding and appreciation of wild ecosystems, Zavaleta will discuss the serpentine flora and grasslands that comprise an extraordinary array of rare plant communities and rare endemic species that have adapted to the island-like chemistry and soil conditions in serpentine substrates.
