FIREHOUSE ART COLLECTIVE is pleased to announce the up-coming street art walk located right in the heart of West Berkeley's Gilman District, THE GILMAN ART WALK (GAW) is an independent community-focused showcase of local artists, hosted by Tom Franco & The Firehouse Art Collective, and sponsored by NUG and Blick Art Materials. We strive to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, connecting local businesses, artists, and art lovers.
Gilman Art Walk has been growing for 3 years, and once again, the center art stage will be a street closure on 9th Street (between Gilman St. & Camelia St.) A day of arts and entertainment, featuring some of the most influential street dancers TURF INC., putting on a dance battle, music by DJ's and live musical acts, live painting, youth soccer court, large sculptures, beer & wine garden, and delicious tastes from Berkeley food trucks, and a large vendor booth area showcasing some of our fabulous local artists and businesses.
The Gilman District is home to at least 5+ major visual art centers, galleries and art collectives who will be showcasing art in their spaces. As well as around 30 businesses who will hang local artists on their walls, all with the intention to create an unified artist community and to elevate our local talent and businesses through the arts. Printed map-fliers will allow each attendee to locate the businesses and artists involved in the Gilman Art Walk, Sunday September 22nd, 2019.
