Gift of Words - Poems for the Iraqi People

The Century House Poetry Readings, sponsored by City of Pleasanton Civic Arts and hosted by Pleasanton Poet Laureate Cynthia Bryant, will feature Gift of Words-Poems for the Iraqi People on Sunday, December 3, 2006 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00.
The program will include readings of poems written by poets across the country and service personnel abroad. After the event, the poems will be translated into Arabic and compiled in a booklet that will be sent to Iraq.
Pot luck refreshments will be shared by attendees who are invited to bring their favorite foods to share. Beverages, napkins, eating utensils, plates and cups will be provided.
Those attending are also invited to bring one wrapped book of poetry, used or new, to exchange as part of a gift giving event. Door prizes will be awarded as well.
