ArtSpan, the art non-profit which has produced SF Open Studios for the past 43 years as well as countless other year-round programs to foster the arts in San Francisco, announces a brand new event at the iconic MakeOut Room bar in the Mission district. The event will feature live, irresistibly danceable tunes by California band, Burnside, live painting throughout the night by ArtSpan artist Rachel Znerold and a DJ set by Tyrone Cornelius to keep the party going until midnight. Tickets are only $25 and all proceeds for the event will go towards the creation and development of the new ArtSpan Onondaga Art Center in the Excelsior district. This is a 21+ event.
“For the first time in ArtSpan’s 43 year history working with artists, creatives and community partners throughout the Bay Area, we are creating an art center to call our home. Having this space will allow ArtSpan to take root and evolve the organization into something bigger, more innovative and substantially more impactful,” said Joen Madonna, Executive Director of ArtSpan. “There has never been a more crucial time to support local culture. It takes a village of supporters to build a stronger, more resilient future,”
ArtSpan was selected, through a competitive process, to be granted the lease of a city-owned building on Onondaga Avenue, in the historic Excelsior District. Serving San Francisco artists and residents with art studios, a community meeting space, a classroom, a resource center and a collaborative art gallery. The ArtSpan Onondaga Art Center will make a measurable impact within the city by fostering a vibrant and engaging art scene that involves local residents and attracts artists and art lovers from all over the Bay Area. ArtSpan needs to raise $1,000,000 to support the development and creation of this project. Every $25 ticket to the Get It On event will directly help create this new neighborhood art center.
