Gays on Stage: LGBT Characters in the World of Opera

SEE EVENT DETAILS
While gay opera fans may seem like a commonplace phenomenon, there is a bit more mystery around gay characters that appear in opera. To coincide with June 2018’s observance of Gay Pride, San Francisco Opera’s Dramaturg Kip Cranna will use video and audio examples to explore the hidden, hinted, and overtly LGBT characters in the opera repertoire and how they have been portrayed and received, from the 17th century to the present day.
