Artist reception Thurs, April 13, 6-8pm; Exhibition Apr 5 - May 8, 2017
Arran is interested in the energy of crowds: what fuels a crowd and how is that energy felt by each individual in the moment, then, after the moment? Gathering together is ostensibly a basic human need, a repeatable ritual of energy renewal that provides various touchstones to the humanity we seek to share with others. Arran's acrylic on canvas and watercolor on paper works offer a first person perspective within various scenarios that are diverse in location yet common in experience (e.g., at a ball game, on vacation, protesting) in order to provide a point of entry for a wide range of viewers to recall and re-experience the energy of a crowd.
