Gray Area's new Gallery is a permanent exhibition space at our current home in the Mission District's Grand Theater, and will be free and open to the public year-round starting on August 25.
Gray Area's Founding Executive Director Josette Melchor initially launched Gray Area Gallery in San Francisco's South of Market (SoMa) in 2006 to showcase technology-driven art. The Gallery transformed into the Gray Area non-profit in 2008, and exhibited works by seminal new media artists including Casey Reas, Aaron Koblin, Camille Utterback, and STAMEN Design, before expanding with educational programs, research, and live performances.
Gray Area's new permanent Gallery space continues the tradition of making genre-bending work accessible to the public with this inaugural exhibition by collective FELT ZINE.
